Give Back this Friday #FirstFriday4Good
There’s no denying this is the season for giving back. With Thanksgiving and #GivingTuesday in the rearview mirror and Christmas just weeks away, ‘tis the season for generosity. And that’s really what First Friday for Good is all about: supporting nonprofits that make KC a great place to call home.
First Friday for Good gathers our Westside neighborhood for a day of giving back — and every participating venue has committed a portion of First Friday for Good proceeds to a nonprofit they love. Get to know the nonprofits you’ll support when you join us this Friday, December 1.
Great Kansas City Food Policy Coalition, supported by Blue Bird Bistro
The Greater Kansas City Food Policy Coalition works to broaden access to healthy affordable food “that nourishes individuals and nurtures communities, the local economy, and the environment” in the Kansas City metro.
Mattie Rhodes Center, supported by Chez Elle
Mattie Rhodes Center is a community development organization “dedicated to individual and family well-being through social services, behavioral health counseling and the arts,” with its headquarters right here in the Westside neighborhood.
Preemptive Love, supported by Goat Hill Coffee & Soda
Focusing on job creation and relief efforts, Preemptive Love is a coalition working in Iraq, Syria, the United States and beyond. The organization aims to “unmake violence and create the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.”
SAFEHOME, supported by MADI Apparel
SAFEHOME provides “a healing atmosphere where survivors of domestic violence can gain inner strength, build self-esteem, explore options, and establish a life free of violence.” More than 7,000 individuals receive SAFEHOME’s shelter and community services each year.
Unleashed Pet Rescue, supported by The Westside Local
Unleashed Pet Rescue is an animal shelter that “works to save the lives of homeless pets and strives to improve the image of bully breeds in society.” In collaboration with high-kill shelters, Unleashed works to bring “unwanted” pets to safety.
Cherith Brook Catholic Worker House, supported by Westside Storey
Cherith Brook is a residential Christian community committed to “sharing table fellowship with strangers and all our resources with one another.” The community offers temporary housing, showers, clothes and a warm meal to those in need of shelter.
At Fervor, we care about making impact — and on First Friday for Good, we need you to help make it happen. Shop, dine, drink and give back to these organizations meeting crucial needs in Kansas City and beyond.
Pick up your free Westside Passport for Good at the Fervor office, as well as our participating Westside neighbors. Grab dinner this Friday, visit more venues, support more local nonprofits and earn more chances to win prizes. Spread the word with our Facebook event — and we’ll see you December 1 in the Westside for First Friday for Good. #FirstFriday4Good
