Kansas City’s Best Patios
It’s spring in Kansas City — or, as we like to call it, Patio Season. We love calling KC home, and this time of year, nothing beats drinking and dining al fresco. We polled our team and, after some contentious argument, we landed on our top five favorite patios in the city.
From open-air decks to beer gardens and everything in between, we’ve rounded up the best patios in Kansas City.
5. KC Bier Co (310 West 79th St., Kansas City, MO 64114)
We’re big fans of the authentic German biergarten at KC Bier Co. This charming neighborhood spot features the communal tables that Germany’s biergartens are known for. They’re always rotating which German-style lagers are on tap. These days, we love an iced cold Helles. And it’s a great spot for the whole family — on a Saturday afternoon, you’ll find plenty of kiddos and dogs enjoying the space. We recommend the Helles; bonus points if you order one of KC Bier Co’s signature soft pretzels.
4. Boulevard Beer Hall (2534 Madison Ave., Kansas City, MO 64108)
On a sunny day, the deck at the Boulevard Beer Hall is where it’s at. With 24 beers on tap, there’s something for everyone — from the classics, like Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat, to unique experimental brews. Don’t miss the bright and light Ginger Lemon Radler, perfect for sipping in the sun. The deck features some of the best views in the city, views that’ll make you fall in love with Kansas City all over again.
3. Harry’s Country Club (112 East Missouri Ave., Kansas City, MO 64106)
The KC Star calls it the “Crown Jewel of the River Market,” and we couldn’t agree more. The large patio makes it a great spot to meet friends, and Harry’s Country Club offers some of the best happy hour specials in the city. Whiskey lovers, unite: Harry’s boasts quite the selection, and you’re sure to find a new favorite. The patio goes from good to great when there’s live music.
2. Gram & Dun (600 Ward Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64112)
Gram & Dun’s swanky patio on the Country Club Plaza is always busy, and with good reason. The restaurant’s innovative cuisine and inventive cocktails keep us coming back. The Smoking Dun is one of our favorite libations in KC. And their patio is especially great in the evening: when the sun goes down, their outdoor fireplaces turn on, giving the space a festive feel. And the people watching? Can’t be beat.
1. Westside Local (1663 Summit St., Kansas City, MO 64108)
Our top spot goes to none other than our Westside neighborhood: Westside Local. Their menu combines elevated comfort food with upscale fare, and the seasonally-rotating cocktail list means there’s always something new to try. We especially love the Hibiscus Margarita. The decidedly urban patio features both picnic benches and bistro tables, so it’s just as good a choice for a big group of friends as it is for a date night. Hey, we’re regulars there for a reason.
