About Powell Gardens
As Kansas City’s botanical garden, Powell Gardens boasts 970 acres of lush, rolling hills and windswept meadows, with more than 175 acres and a large collection of plants open to the public for education, exploration, and recreation. Playing a vital role in the community, the gardens provide a space for rejuvenation, learning, quiet solitude or celebration. Visitors can stroll the pathways and enjoy eight themed display gardens, a three-mile nature trail, seasonal festivals, rotating exhibitions, exceptional architecture, and dining options featuring ingredients grown in our Heartland Harvest Garden, one of the nation’s largest edible landscapes.
Fervor + Powell Gardens
Branding, Brochures and Signage to Guide Discovery
Powell Gardens asked the Fervor team to brand several walking tours that would guide visitors through the gardens, sight-seeing and exploring the tremendous art and architecture that resides along their pathways. In tandem, they knew visitors would appreciate signs and brochures to assist along their stroll, providing information about specific buildings and art, as well as a map to guide their meandering.
Branding the Tours
Fervor delivered an all-inclusive package, starting with the name “Wander Walks” to inspire visitors to tour. This brand could now accurately reflect the Powell Garden’s brand message, which encourages discovery of nature’s seasonal beauty.
Copywriting & Design for Botanical Wander Walks
Next, Fervor set to work on a set of beautiful, branded brochures, including Wander Walk: Art in the Gardens and Wander Walk: Architecture in the Gardens. From carefully crafted copy explaining each notable feature to designs that implemented their iconic brand and feeling of freedom the Gardens offer, the brochures give visitors a touring guide in print and digital form. Fervor designed informational signage to mark artwork and structures along the Wander Walks, adding a QR code for easy access to the digital guide directly on their phone.
Website Content Updates
In addition to the “Wander Walks” collateral, Fervor helped Powell Gardens refresh their rental information for events, writing and designing a new brochure and updating content on their website.
Our team really enjoyed this creative project. We hope you’ll be inspired by the work we were able to do with Powell Gardens. And, if you’re local or passing through town, stop by the Gardens to enjoy a few relaxing minutes (our hours) along their Wander Walks. You won’t be disappointed!
